Variety video available: noThe Almut tomato is a traditional variety bred by Barbara Neubert at the Institute for Breeding Research Quedlinburg (IfZ). It was registered as a variety from 1993 to 1995. Unfortunately, several new strains from the institute could no longer be registered after the country's incorporation into the Federal Republic of Germany. Today, the Almut has neither a registered variety nor plant variety protection. This makes it a true rarity that deserves preservation.
The Almut is a robust , red salad tomato distinguished by its distinctive shape. Its flavor is mild, with a pleasant, slightly acidic flavor , accompanied by a sweet and fruity note . The crisp flesh makes it ideal for fresh salads and many other dishes.
Despite their robust growth, Almut plants should be well supported , as the fruits become very heavy. Thinning is not necessary with this easy-care variety, making it an excellent choice for gardeners who value both high yields and low maintenance.
The Almut tomato is not only high-yielding but also a taste sensation. It's the perfect choice for anyone looking for a traditional yet robust tomato variety with an unusual shape and a mild, fruity flavor.
