4. What does determinate, semi-determinate and indeterminate mean in tomato plants?

Determinedmeans limited growth. Here the plant forms a fruit stand as the last shoot and only grows in width but no longer in height.

Indeterminate is exactly the opposite and means unlimited growth. The plant forms new leaf shoots over and over again and thus continues to grow indefinitely in height and width.

Semi-determined Tomato plants have characteristics of both growth types. They initially grow like determinate plants with a limited growth height, but later continue to grow like indeterminate plants and produce fruit over a longer period of time. They are often a good choice for gardeners who prefer a more compact plant but still want a longer harvest season. They can be grown in pots, containers or in the garden and offer a good balance of size and yield.
