22. How often should you fertilize tomato plants?

The frequency with which tomato plants should be fertilized depends on several factors, including the fertilizer used, the soil in which the tomatoes are growing, and the growth stage of the plants.The fertilization needs of tomato plants can vary from season to season, and it is important to be flexible to respond to specific conditions in the garden.
 

  • Basic fertilization: Before tomato plants are even planted in the ground, the soil should be well prepared by incorporating organic fertilizer (green waste, horn shavings, manure, algae extracts, etc.) or compost. This ensures a solid basic supply of nutrients. Organic fertilizers also have the advantage of providing slow-release nutrients that are available over a longer period of time.
