16. What does rotting mean on tomato plants?

When pre-growing tomato plants, it can occasionally happen that the young plants suffer from a phenomenon known as "Horny" is known. This condition occurs when plants die due to too little light and too much heat grow excessively quickly. The seedlings literally stretch for the light, causing them to become thin and long, as can be seen in the picture.

It is important to know that young plants that have fallen into this condition are unfortunately no longer usable. For them, re-sowing is advisable.

However, there is a way to save an already affected but still viable plant. The fourth overturned plant could be buried in the ground up to its young leaves. It is important to place them in a bright but cooler area - ideally at a temperature of 17 to 18 degrees. This process will allow new roots to emerge and will cause the plant to grow more slowly due to the cooler environment.

Planting to the young leaves and reorganizing in a cooler environment creates optimal conditions for new roots to grow. This measure allows the affected plant to recover and regain its vitality. However, it should be noted that the plant needs time to regenerate.
